Abigail Garfield was the granddaughter of Edward Garfield, born in England about 1575 and died 14 June 1672. His wife was Rebecca, born about 1605 and died 16 April 1661. Their son, Edward Garfield Junior, was admitted as a freeman in Watertown in 1635 and was a selectman in 1638, 1655 and 1662. Edward Garfield Junior, who died about 1672, was one of the earliest proprietors of the town. His daughter Abigail was born 29 June 1646 and died 18 December 1726.88
