Notes for Isaac Gale Capt.
While living in Sutton in 1757, Isaac Gale served as a lieutenant in the French and Indian war. In 1763 he was appointed by the governor of Massachusetts as Captain of the Military Company of Sutton. At the time of the French and Indian wars this office was considered the most important in the town. He gave his sword to his son, Isaac Junior, to be passed on to descendents of the same name. In 1864, with the death of the last Isaac Gale, the sword was given to Galesville University in Wisconsin.

Isaac Gale married Judith Sawyer of Framingham and the couple was living there when their first child, Isaac Junior, was born in 1732. The following year the family moved to Sutton, residing in the part called Millbury where seven more children were born to Isaac and Judith Sawyer Gale.88
