    Mrs. Minnie May (Friend) Custer, aged 82, wife of David S. Custer, of Friendsville, died in Memorial hospital, in Cumberland, on Friday, May 21, after being a patient there for about eight hours. She was born March 7, 1866, at Sang Run, a daughter of the late David H. and Mary Riley Friend. She was a member of the Methodist church at Friendsville and was quite active in church work. Mr. and Mrs. Custer had been married for fifty-two years. Surviving are her husband; two sons, D. Harry Custer, Akron, Ohio; and Aubrey R. Custer, Friendsville; and one daughter, Mrs. T. Joseph Stanton, Oakland; also nine grandchildren, and one brother, J. Alvin Friend, Sang Run. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home with Rev. W. E. Wade, Methodist minister, of Friendsville, officiating. Interment was in Blooming Rose cemetery. Her home was in Friendsville. She was a daughter of D. Harrison Friend and Mary R. Riley, and one of the few remaining great grand children of the pioneer settler, John Friend, Sr.
