It was reported that when Ben Johnson and Ellis English were hunting, a deer bounded across the clearing and both hunters fired. “We got a deer,” cried Ellis. “You mean I got a deer,” Ben corrected. But when the two had trudged up the hill, they discovered their prize was WendeJin’s cow. “Lord, we shot Wendell’s cow.” exclaimed Ben. “You mean you shot his cow.” replied Ellis.1483
