Steve,
I ran across your site...
Just consider that Joseph Bastedo was a loyalist.

I have attached what I think I know, my line follows David Tice Bastedo.

Plus I know the name is Spanish, might have been de la Bastide? What I think/heard is they came from northern africa crossed into Spain, hid as practising Jews, then declared they were Protestents. But if you look at the history of Spain, the first big raid on Spain by the Catholics, the Queen of Spain asked that Protestants be spared. When the Spainish Inquistion came the Queen agreed to attacking Protestants. The Bastedos fled to Holland.
If you are from this line you are in for a few surprises...

read the attachment, then the following applies to me.

Hope this helps!

Steve,
 Great to hear from you!
My girlfriend, Christa Skinner's, great-grandfather was Wallace Crowe, son of Jim Crowe, who was the son of Patrick Murray Crowe.
She lives in Snohomish. Wallace Crowe's daughter and grand-daughter (christa's mother, Dianna, (who I am CC'ing) and grandmother, Lorraine) live next door.
Dianna and Lorraine have been working diligently on their families genealogy for some time now and have amassed a wealth of information. Dianna has been corresponding with Randy Brown in Arizona.
It's pretty neat that you have that pan.
To your knowledge, are there any homesteads in the Snohomish Country vicinity??

Hi Eric

Yes, I am the Steve Johnson who has the pan. My grandmother was a daughter of Joel Crowe, who was a brother of the Patrick Crowe in "As the Crowe Flies". I have a copy of the book.

I'll be glad to share and help you any way I can.

Who is your "friend"?

My name is Eric Tuchscherer, I'm helping a friend of mine do some Genealogical research.  She has a book, based on her family history, titled "As the Crowe Flies". In this book we've found a reference to your family.
One of her ancestors went to Alaska to look for gold, and left his pan "In the possession of Steve Johnson".  After looking through your site, Ponderroses.com we're assuming that they were cousins.
We'd like to get in touch with you and see if we can collaborate.  Please let me know.

Hi Steve,

It has been awhile since my daughter, Christa and her now new husband, Eric Tuchsherer contacted you.   They researched the Crowe homestead in Granite Falls and obtained a map from the museum.  I have started to search the Crowes again.  I reach road blocks so I change family searches but am back on the Crowes.  You had discussed a Crowe family
reunion have you had it yet?
My mother is now 84 and her mind is starting to go so I would very much like to meet our relatives,  You are not that far away, we just live in Snohomish!
I will refresh your memory my mother is Lorraine Crowe Herr, her father was Wallace Bruce Crowe, his father was James Murray Crowe, whose dad was Patrick Murray Crowe.  My
daughter and I are interested in seeing the "pan" used by William Arthur Crowe in Alaska.  I hope I have that right?  You had also mentioned another relative you were corresponding
with in California.  I have contacted Randy Brown in Arizona who is a descendant of Patrick Murrary's brother Joel Wilson Crowe he said he met you in Valentine, Neb. at the 1998
Crowe Reunion and he was nice enough to send me a copy of the Crowe Chronicles.
To get back to my mission, I would like to get to meet you before winter if possible.  Mom likes to get out of the house so the drive would be nice let me know what you think, ok?
I also have some unanswered questions on ancestry.  Was Anna Wilson married to Samuel Wadman?  Was Eyre married more than 2 times? and who is Ezra's mother?  It is amazing
how these things can stump a person.  In other family trees I find Eyre and Ezra with the same birthdate but I believe that Eyre was born in 1772 not 1774.  You would think that a
family could think of different names for their children than to name then all the same! lol  Like William , Robert, Mary etc.
Well, the grandkids are starting to get wild so I got to go for now but hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Bernie

Now that Thanksgiving and birthday celebrations are over I am left with a task: lose the weight I gained.

I have a few questions, answers to which should be easy:

1. Is your mother the Dorothy Marguerite May born 1 May 1929 died 1 Nov 2008? Yes

2.Is your father Charles F. Lineweaver born 1929? Yes and his middle name is Fred and is birth date is 05/22/1929

3. Is your grandfather George P. May? Yes

4. And your grandmother Anna J. Boyd? No - She was a Peterson and I believe her middle name was Joanna (sp?)

5. Lastly, what is Lefty Phelps (Grandfather of Glen) given name? I still do not have an answer on this yet.

I found your website, http://www.ponderroses.com/SteveJohnsonFamily/wc01/wc01_345.htm,  after locating my g-g-g-grandparents, Henry & Mary Kerns, in the Gallia Co obituaries. Your info helped me learn that Mary Kerns' maiden name was Gilbert ...Thank You!!

The obit for Mary noted she had 5 children, but only three were living at the time of her death:

Thomas Kerns
Madeline (Kerns) Skinner
Louisa (Kerns) Smeltzer .... my g-g-grandmother, who is not listed as a child of Henry & Mary (Gilbert) Kerns on your webpage.

Your website also helped me learn the name of the other 2 children who had died before Aug 1898 ... Charlotte and Susanna.

How wonderful to find your info today!
I couldn't figure out how you relate to this family group ... but I would be happy to share photos & more info if you are interested.

Kind regards,
Wendy

Thank you for the email and inquiry. There seems to be some different information floating around in various family trees. According to my records and my wife's grandfather's records (Loran Wood Wadman), the following is included in my wife's family tree:

Samuel Wadman was born on 27 July 1760 in Sturminster Newton, County of Dorset, England. He was the son of William Wadman (1730-1784) and Hanna Eyers (1718-1776).
Samuel Wadman married Jane Hartwell on 21 May 1750 in Shaftesbury, County of Dorset, England.
Jane Hartwell was born on 15 July 1753 in Laleham, County of Middlesex, England. She was the daughter of John Hartwell (1725-1782) and Mary ??? (1730-???).
Samuel and Jane had 2 sons: William Arthur Wadman (1746-1826) and Francis Neptune Wadman (1781-1870). The story passed down was that Francis was born at sea, therefore the middle name "Neptune". Samuel Wadman was supposedly a British Officer, but I can't find any record of that. He was going to India with his family, and therefore his son was born on board the ship. Samuel Wadman died sometime between 1799 and 1800. His wife and 2 sons moved to Canada. Jane Hartwell Wadman lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She met an married a James Crowe or a Richard Robert Crowe in Nova Scotia. The Canadian records show that a Jane Crowe was married in 1815 in Nova Scotia. However, it doesn't show the spouse.
William Arthur Wadman moved to Charlottetown, Queens County, Prince Edward Island. He married Harriet Grosvenor (1781-1862) and they had 11 children. Francis Neptune Wadman moved to Five islands, Colchester County, Nova Scotia. He married Susanne Corbett (1783-1858) and they had 8 children.
I hope this helps.
